My name is Roberto, I was born and raised in México City. I started this blog out of my interest and love for the thing I do every day, which is working with computers in any form or shape.

It’s been this career that has given me so many amazing experiences like traveling, meeting outstanding personalities, working in some of the most amazing places on earth, even watching the Atlantis Space Shuttle in its launchpad in the Space Center one day back in 1997 and even moving to Australia.

All thanks to Computers

First Computer I used – Which I still have, it wasn’t mine originally, I just later got it

Commode 64

All the way to University and this is the First interface I work with

HP 3000. I found it quite ugly and boring

HP 3000. I found it quite ugly and boring

But then one day I set foot at the Super Computer Center of my University and found this:

Silicon Graphics GUI. 4DW

The Revolutionary Silicon Graphics GUI

I even became the System Admin of a Workstation like this

A Personal IRIS 4D

There I learned Unix in the broad sense, shell scripting, awk, regular expressions and many other things

I also had access to this:

A Next Workstation. I was shocked when I saw the things it could do. Email with video and sound attachment? In 1992?!

Not only that. I got to compile the first Web Browser.

Mosaic, this is Windows, not the actual one(s) I compiled in IRIX, Solaris, HP-UX, and Ultrix

And, I also had access to this:

This is the actual Cray-YMP. This was my view during the week

Another view

Another view of the 4 Processor Super Computer.. Yes, 4

One day I left that place and started to work

I was in shock when at my first job my workstation looked like this:

Sorry, where’s the Browser here? I was a C developer for VAX and Alpha running OpenVMS. Not that exciting really.

I left as soon as I could and got to work here:

I loved this company. Largest IT Services of the World when I was hired

I loved this company. Largest IT Services of the World when I was hired. I spent four years there. Golden Years.

Because I saw that everything was changing rapidly and dramatically because of the Internet, I quit EDS and co-founded a .com ; it had a brief existence of almost 2 years. Which were great nevertheless.

Which as a consequence got me a job here:

I started in 2001. 3 Days before the Window XP Launch in New York. What a great place to Work. I was a Linux guy then and barely had a clue of any Microsoft product

Good all Windows XP

The old Windows XP

At Microsoft I was a specialist during my 8 years of : Sharepoint, Exchange, Active Directory, Unified Messaging and some other products that don’t exist anymore : ISA Firewall, Content Management Server, and some other etceteras.

Eventually one day I left and co-founded my own Company, where I worked for 4 years:

ZSENI literally means Genius in the Hungarian language

What a great logo, 7 years later looks beautiful:

And then one day I moved to Australia (Melbourne), where I live today

And get to work all days with Cloud Technology, mostly Azure

Not the Azure logo, but it’s pretty cool anyway
